Legal process we honor
- Subpoenas for basic subscriber information.
- Court orders under 18 U.S.C. § 2703(d) for non-content records.
- Search warrants for content.
- Emergency disclosure requests under 18 U.S.C. § 2702(b)(8) when there is a reasonable belief that an emergency involving imminent danger of death or serious physical injury requires disclosure.
Preservation requests
We will preserve records and content associated with a specific account upon receipt of a preservation request for up to 90 days, extendable by one additional 90-day period under 18 U.S.C. § 2703(f). Submit to le@troop-connect.com.
CSAM / NCMEC reports
Where Troop Connect detects or receives a report of apparent child sexual abuse material, we file a report with the NCMEC CyberTipline under 18 U.S.C. § 2258A and preserve the material for the statutory window.
User notice
Our default practice is to notify users of legal process affecting their account except where prohibited by law (for example, where a court has issued a non-disclosure order) or where notice would create a risk of imminent harm.
Transparency
We intend to publish an annual transparency report beginning year 2 of operations, covering the number of legal-process requests received and responded to.
